The canon eos rebel digital xs is pretty much the same camera as the XSI, just slightly less powerful. For the canon eos rebel xs camera, cannon offers two different designs, a nice attractive looking solid black and a two tone silver and black. Both come in a single lens kit with the EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens.

The canon eos rebel xs digital camera is a couple of ounces lighter than the XSI, this camera only weighs 1 pound, 1.6 ounces. Nearly all the buttons sit under your right hand and each one feels slightly different, this means you can operate the camera without having to look at the buttons. Also none of the buttons require two handed operation.

Some found the AF indicators in the view finder on the canon eos rebel xs to be pretty annoying at times, same with the XSI. When the focus locks the AF indicators briefly flash, only problem is they are so small it’s pretty hard to see them at times. On the other hand the xs does offer some pretty decent specs and cool features considering its price…

Auto Lighting Optimizer.

The canon eos rebel xs has an auto lighting optimizer feature, this feature is extremely useful in tricky lighting conditions. This tool can lighten dark areas and at the same time ensure that bright areas keep their tonal detail. It can also increase contrast in flat lighting, for example on overcast days.

Picture Style Settings.

The canon eos xs rebel has many picture styling settings for digital photographers. You can change the colour, sharpness, contrast and saturation to create the image you’re looking for. There are also six different picture preset style settings, cannon also offers downloadable presets that can easily be installed on your camera.

3.0 fps Continuous Shooting.

Basically what this means is you can shoot 3 pictures per second on a continuous burst. This feature offers speedy auto focus and minimal shutter lag. It can shoot in bursts of up to 514 JPEG’s or 5 RAW files, making it one of the fastest cameras available today.

Live Function View.

This is a really cool feature, it enables you to view the image your about to take directly on the 2 and a half inch LCD screen. You can also magnify any part of the screen using the 5x or 10x option giving you precise manual focus. There is also two ways to use the auto focus feature along with Live Function View. You can use what’s called grind overlay and Live Function View can also be use remotely via a computer.
